It may be difficult, but I won’t give up.
I’m very much at the beginning of my journey, and I understand that running a small business isn’t easy, even during the best of times, but then I read some statistics by the United States small business association and I wonder?
30% of small businesses fail within two years.
50% fail within five years.
Only 25% of business last 15 years or longer.
Every small business owner I’ve heard of has said that running a small business is challenging. On top of this is the possibility that if circumstances get tough, running a business becomes an even greater challenge.
Throughout the years, many events have occurred that placed a squeeze on businesses; in the Great Depression, people jumped out of buildings because their businesses failed, World War I and World War II, The Cold War, the 2008 housing market collapse, and now the coronavirus pandemic we are presently going through in 2020.
During these difficult times, many small businesses folded under the pressure. They simply weren’t able to keep going. But many businesses have survived these incredibly challenging circumstances. Some of them have even thrived.
The point is that the business I’m starting right now has to make it, even through hard times, I’ll need to get creative, I’ll have to take massive action, and I’ll need to make tough decisions, this may be difficult, but I must not Give Up.
Managing my mindset.
I’ve only recently completed what I believe is the best internet marketing course you can find, the One Funnel Away Challenge, hosted by clickfunnels, you can go to the sales page here. The whole first week of this challenge concentrated solely on belief. Every lesson emphasised why belief is the most important part of our business, and without the correct mindset, my business is unlikely to succeed.
I learnt that if my business is struggling, it’s absolutely essential to manage my mindset, when things get tough, it’s really easy to enter a downward mental spiral.
I understand that I’m likely to face challenges, so what will I need to do? Work to stabilize and turn around my business, most important to maintain a positive mindset, a positive mindset also means that I am resolved to not give up.
Almost every great business leader has endured struggles, they are successful because they persevered and were resilient if I want my business to succeed, and I need mental toughness.
To overcome a negative mindset I need to be able to identify unhelpful mental patterns as they occur.
If negative thoughts arise, question them, is what I’m thinking really true?
Avoid allowing the same negative thoughts, as I shut these down, I will replace with the positive truth.
As I push through problems and challenges, I will remember why I got into business in the first place. I will seek to tap into the emotions and desires that originally pushed me to create my business, in the first place.
Thank you,
Roy Clayton.
